Landscapes
A study of landscape painting, experimenting with light, colour, depth and shadows. Created in my studio from a collection of sketches and photographs.
Brimham Rocks, a local beauty spot in Yorkshire is a source of inspiration for me. I found limiting my colour pallet to grey, green black and white a pleasure and relaxing experience. The slightest addition of any one of those colours had a dramatic effect on my paintings.
I find beauty in grey skies, clouds and rain, the patterns that are made on the canvas and in the sky leave your imagination to wonder.
Experimenting with pastel and paper doesn’t give me a finished painting but what it does is give me inspiration for one. When I keep staring at a sketch I can see potential for another painting.
